Staff Develoment Coordinator

Troy Center is actively seeking an expoerienced Registered Nurse to work as a Staff Development Coordinator at our Skilled Nursing Facility in Troy, NY. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working with Infection Control and Nurse Education.

Infection Control Duties:

  • Monitor infection prevention practices, Healthcare associated infections
  • Conduct outbreak investigation and initiate control measures
  • Report communicable diseases to the state as required
  • Supervise and monitor all residents while on shift
  • Responsible for completing admission paperwork, care services and resident medical records while keeping confidentiality
  • Provides advice & support to the Residents and their families
  • Protects Residents & staff by adhering to infection-control policies & protocols and tracking infection control
  • Assures quality of care of residents and staff by adhering to facility philosophies & standards of care

Nurse Education Duties:

  • Responsible for overseeing the educational needs of the staff (staff development and improvement processes) to meet NYSDOH & other regulatory mandates
  • Monitor and oversee employee health and orientation processes for our healthcare facility
  • Educate, coach and verify staff performance to ensure best practice, compliance and top customer service
  • Have familiarity with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, etc
  • Record and document educational activity, attendance and responses
  • Report on active projects, reactions and progress of nursing staff
  • Assist Director of Quality and or Director of Nursing in planning, coordinating and implementing staff programs and services to ensure a well-educated staff.
  • Maintain appropriate records and assist in data collection for assessment and evaluation purposes
  • Consult with and keeps Director of Quality and or Director of Nursing informed as appropriate or required
  • Maintain good departmental relationships, interacting effectively with all internal and external customers
  • Maintain close contact with employees off work, on disability or workman’s compensation, and their physicians to facilitate their earliest possible return to work
  • Review incident reports, OSHA reports, involving employees injured at work & coordinates education, loss prevention program with our safety program
  • Provide annual tuberculosis screening of volunteers; directs follow-up procedure for positive Mantoux testing within scope of practice and under the direction of Director of Nursing
  • Administers Hep B vaccines & Mantoux (TB skin tests) to various contracted agencies and individuals per guidelines and under the direction of Director of Quality or Director of Nursing



Current New York State RN License
Long-Term Care Experience Preferred
Experience working in wound care and infection control
Solid computer skills; working knowledge of MS Office
Excellent communication skills
Should be friendly and a team worker
